Terms of Service and License

Last updated: 19 September 2026. These terms are the agreement between you and the publisher of SlideSmith for the SlideSmith Chrome extension, the SlideSmith sidekick add-on for Google Slides, the SlideSmith API and the website useslidesmith.com (together, "SlideSmith").

1. Who publishes SlideSmith

SlideSmith is published by Olivier Fournier, an individual developer based in France. Contact: support@useslidesmith.com. By installing or using SlideSmith you accept these terms. If you use SlideSmith on behalf of an organisation, you accept them for that organisation.

2. Private beta

SlideSmith is currently a private beta, offered free of charge to invited testers for a limited period. A beta is unfinished software: features may change or disappear, data formats may change without migration, and the service may be interrupted. Do not rely on the beta as your only way to produce a time-critical deliverable. Beta access may be ended at any time, by you or by the publisher.

3. Your license

For as long as you hold a valid seat, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use SlideSmith for your own professional or personal work. A seat belongs to one named person and is identified by that person's email address. A seat may be reassigned to another person by the organisation that holds it, but it may not be shared between several people.

You may not: copy, resell, sublicense or redistribute SlideSmith; modify it, reverse engineer it, decompile it or extract its source, except where the law gives you that right regardless of contract; work around the license checks or the technical limits of the service; use the API other than through the SlideSmith extension; or use SlideSmith to build a competing product.

4. Your content

Your presentations, data and charts remain yours. The charts you make with SlideSmith are yours to use without restriction, including after your license ends: a chart already placed on a slide stays there as an image. Editing it again requires a valid seat. How data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy; in short, only the numbers of a chart are sent to the SlideSmith server, never its text.

5. The service needs a connection

Part of SlideSmith's chart computation runs on the SlideSmith server, so inserting and editing charts needs an internet connection and a signed-in session. The publisher aims for high availability but does not promise uninterrupted service. An extension version that is too old to talk to the server may be asked to update before it can continue.

6. Feedback

If you send feedback, ideas or bug reports, the publisher may use them freely to improve SlideSmith, without owing you anything. Your feedback stays confidential and is never published with your name without your consent.

7. Confidentiality during the beta

The beta is not public. Please do not publish or share the extension package, the add-on files, screenshots of unreleased features or the installation links outside the group of invited testers without asking first.

8. Paid plans

Paid subscriptions are not open yet. When they open, prices, billing periods, the right of withdrawal, cancellation and refunds will be presented before any purchase and added to these terms. Nothing is charged during the beta.

9. Intellectual property

SlideSmith, its code, design, name and logos belong to the publisher and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms give you a right to use SlideSmith, not ownership of it. Google Slides, Google Chrome and Google Workspace are trademarks of Google LLC; SlideSmith is an independent product, not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.

10. Warranty and liability

SlideSmith is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, the publisher gives no warranty that it is error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and is not liable for indirect loss such as lost profit, lost data or lost business. You are responsible for checking the charts you present. During the free beta, the publisher's total liability is limited to 100 euros. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, nor the mandatory rights you hold as a consumer.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using SlideSmith at any time by uninstalling the extension and the add-on. The publisher may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, if your seat expires, or when the beta ends. On termination the license in section 3 ends; section 4 continues to apply to the charts you already made.

12. Changes

These terms may change as SlideSmith moves from beta to general availability. When they change materially, the date at the top changes and signed-in users are told by email or in the extension before the change takes effect. Continuing to use SlideSmith after that date means you accept the new terms.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If a dispute cannot be settled amicably, the courts of France have jurisdiction, without depriving a consumer of the protection of the mandatory law and the courts of the country where they live.
